Partnering with Charities Across Canada

Connecting Charities to Donors

Step 1 - Recommendation

A Dena Foundation fund holder recommends a grant to your organization.

We may reach out on behalf of the fund holder to work with you to share the terms of a donation, whether the fund are for a specific project, or whether recognition is being sought.

Step 2 - Confirm

We verify your registered charity status with the CRA. We reach out to your organization to coordinate the disbursement of the funds.

We process and send the grant directly to your organization, as per the terms of the donor.

How Grants Work

Why work with Dena?

Charities are, at their core, experts in people. They understand the unique needs of the communities they serve, the nuances of frontline delivery, and the trust that comes from years of meaningful relationships. That expertise is irreplaceable — and it should stay exactly where it belongs.

But running a charity demands more than passion and program delivery. It requires navigating complex financial structures, managing donor relationships, offering giving vehicles that meet the expectations of today's philanthropists, and competing for a share of an increasingly sophisticated giving landscape. This is where a community foundation becomes not just a resource, but a strategic ally.

A community foundation exists to make generosity work better — for everyone. By partnering with one, charities gain access to a suite of philanthropic tools they would otherwise be unable to offer on their own: Donor Advised Funds, endowment management, planned giving support, and more. These are the products that move major donors and engage the next generation of givers. Rather than building that infrastructure internally — at significant cost and complexity — charities can simply connect to it.

The result is a natural and powerful division of strengths. The charity focuses on what it does best: delivering impact, serving its clients, and deepening community trust. The foundation handles the philanthropic infrastructure: stewarding donor relationships, managing fund administration, and channeling resources where they're needed most.

It is not a competition. It is a collaboration — one where charities become more of what they already are, supported by a foundation built to amplify their reach.
