FAQs

What is the minimum amount to open a Dena fund?

We do not have a minimum amount required. An initial administration is in place for all funds.

Can I donate Canadian stocks or mutual funds?

Yes! Equities are one of the best tools used to create and initially fund your Donor Advised Fund. Currently, we use CanadaHelps as our processing partner.

Most investment brokerages waive their fees when transferring shares for a donation, which keeps your cost of donating to a minimum..

Speak to your accountant/financial planner prior to making any donation of stock/mutual funds. Dena Foundation does not provide any tax advise, or financial planning advice.

How do donations work?

You contribute assets to the fund, receive an immediate tax receipt, and recommend grants over time.

How quickly can I make a grant to a charity?

Currently, donations are made on a quarterly basis to recipient charities.

Can I support multiple charities?

Absolutely, you can recommend grants to any registered Canadian charity.
